Infrastructure Bill Update

Caroline Lucas MP and Norman Baker MP have tabled an amendment to remove clause 37 (formally clause 36) which would commit the UK government to “maximising the economic recovery of UK oil and gas.”

Clause 37 is glaringly inconsistent with the UKs legally binding climate targets.

Baker/Lucas also want clauses 39-44 removed from the bill. These clauses seek to change the trespass law and introduce a new right to use deep-level land, which would allow fracking companies to drill beneath people’s homes and land without their permission and to leave any substance or infrastructure in the land.

I urge you to contact your MP to ask them whether they’ll be supporting Caroline Lucas and Norman Baker’s amendments.
